Our Counselling & Therapy Services

  • Bereavement Counseling/Therapy

Losing a “loved” one is tough. It can feel even tougher if our relationship was super close, or super complicated, if our person left suddenly, or if we saw our person in pain. It can be even tougher if we feel alone, unheard, or misunderstood. Here at J.A.G. Village we are committed to supporting individuals and families who are anticipating or have experienced the loss of a loved one. A range of psychosocial supports is available to those in bereavement as they learn to walk, breathe and even smile again, while often tolerating the intolerable.

  • Caregiver Support

At times it may be valuable for caregivers to meet with us without your child/children present. It is not uncommon to seek information about age-appropriate grief education, ways to support children/youth at home, as well as guidance on engaging with schools, coaches, and community members to help raise their awareness and sensitivity to your child/children’s grief needs. These sessions can be scheduled in addition to or in place of counselling sessions.

  • Family Counseling/Therapy

The death of a relative or close loved one affects the balance of our family systems. Each one of us uniquely reacts, processes, and copes with this loss in their own way. Our goal is for families to share, listen, learn, and heal in ways that honour our own unique grief, while also being respectful of those they love.

  • Mental Health Counseling/Therapy

Life can be hard sometimes and can feel even harder when we think we have to do it alone or “be strong”. Vulnerability takes courage. Let us witness that courage, and support you through challenging times. Together we can learn to find balance, tolerate that which is intolerable, and learn to co-exist with any and all our emotions.

J.A.G. Village understands the importance of grief and bereavement support. Through the generous donations of friends & family, there are some J.A.G. Village scholarships available to help reduce financial barriers that may prevent children, individuals and families from obtaining service. If this support would be helpful for your family, please let us know and we will help facilitate this process.

Insurance

Counselling by a Registered Social Worker is NOT covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). However, extended health care benefits through your employers often do cover these services.

Contact your insurance provider to find out if clinical services by a Registered Social Worker are covered. It may also be advantageous to ask what percentage of the fee your plan covers, what the maximum coverage is per year, and how you will get reimbursed.

Official receipts are emailed after every session and can also be used as a medical expense tax exemption.

A natural space where you can disconnect to reconnect with what really matters...
